많은 지역에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 큰 매로 숲과 숲 가장자리, 울타리가 있는 농지를 선호하며, 지역적으로는 더 큰 나무와 숲이 우거진 공원이 있는 마을에서 사냥을 합니다.
또한 개방된 시골, 특히 황무지와 거친 초원에서도 사냥을 합니다.
