Thousands of cranes have visited Korea since late October, but now they only visit 120 to 150 coastal mudflats near the Demilitarized Zone near Daeseong-dong Freedom Village, Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do, and Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do.
It was designated as a natural monument on May 31, 1968, and was designated as a first-class endangered wildlife on May 31, 2012 and is protected.
