These are four Red Crossbill males seen at the National Arboretum.
The red crossbills or common Crossbills have distinctive mandibles, crossed at the tips, which enable them to extract seeds from conifer cones and other fruits.
These birds are typically found in higher northern hemisphere latitudes, where their food sources grow and six species.
