크낙새 한 쌍 ( A fair of White-bellied Woodpecker )

This pair of white-bellied woodpeckers is  living on the island of Borneo.

I took of three birds flying together during their search.

It has 14 subspecies, and many of its island forms are endangered, some are extinct.

The male suddenly flew in while on the move and filmed himself sitting on a tree 15 meters ahead.

The white-bellied woodpecker or great black woodpecker (Dryocopus javensis) is a woodpecker species

inhabiting evergreen forests in tropical Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia.

It is among the largest of the Asiatic woodpeckers and nests in large dead trees, often beside rivers.

This guy is a female, and the crown and submoustachial area are red.

The White-bellied Woodpecker ( Dryocopus javensis ) which lived in our country,

was not officially listed on the IUCN Red List because it is a subspecies, not a species.

(Dryocopus javensis),

Before the Korean War, it was a trend seen in Hwanghae-do, Geumgangsan, Gyeonggi-do, Gangwon-do, and Gyeongsang-do, but after the Korean War, it was almost extinct in South Korea and I thought we entered the 70s.

In 1974, a pair were confirmed to breed in Gwangneung, and the ecological landscape was almost secured by 1979. At that time, it was confirmed to breed annually, but there is no way to know where the descendants went afterward.

It was officially last seen in Gwangneung in 1993. It was removed from the government's endangered species list in 2011.
